The second principle of faith is the belief that the Creator of the universe is entirely unique (yachid), set apart, and one of a kind. This principle also bespeaks of God's oneness. |

In Hebrew, this principle is confessed: |

In the Brit Chadashah: |

He that believeth on him (i.e., Yeshua) is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (b'shem ha-ben ha-yachid l'elohim) John 3:18. |

Yachid or Echad? |
||||||||||
It should be noted that Maimonides substituted the term yachid for echad in describing the oneness of God. The word echad suggests a compound unity which is actually used in the Shema: "Hear O Israel, the LORD our God is One." This bias against the Triune nature of the One True God as revealed in Scripture has led to question-begging Rabbinic theology regarding the revelation of Yeshua as YHVH come in the flesh. |
