	The Second Principle -

	God is Unique and One

	The second principle of faith is the belief that the Creator of the universe is entirely unique (yachid), set apart, and one of a kind. This principle also bespeaks of God's oneness.


	"I believe with complete faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, is unique and there in no likeness to Him in any way, and that He alone is our God, who was, and is, and is to come." As Maimonides said, "If one even allows himself to think that there is another deity other than God, than he violates the commandment, 'You shall have no other gods before me.'


	In Hebrew, this principle is confessed:

In the Brit Chadashah:

He that believeth on him (i.e., Yeshua) is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (b'shem ha-ben ha-yachid l'elohim) John 3:18.

Yachid or Echad?

It should be noted that Maimonides substituted the term yachid for echad in describing the oneness of God. The word echad suggests a compound unity which is actually used in the Shema: "Hear O Israel, the LORD our God is One." This bias against the Triune nature of the One True God as revealed in Scripture has led to question-begging Rabbinic theology regarding the revelation of Yeshua as YHVH come in the flesh.
